Major shipping lines are avoiding transiting the Suez Canal as Houthi-led attacks on cargo ships have recently escalated.

MSC and Hapag-Lloyd, which have seen their ships directly targeted, said last week they would avoid using the shipping channel altogether with most other Major carriers now following suit.

Shipping Lines are now expected to be routing their vessels around the Cape of Good Hope, causing delays of 10-15 days which will inevitably attract additional surcharges depending on the shipping line and routing.

The 192-km (120-mile) Suez Canal is the quickest sea route between Asia and Europe.

We're monitoring this situation closely and will be keeping all our customers updated as soon as we hear of any further developments.
