A Quick Catch-Up with Katya

Hello Katya!
What is your career background?
Before I moved to the UK from Ukraine, I worked for a small company in their logistics department which I really enjoyed. When I moved to the UK, I worked in a café bar in Felixstowe which was very challenging at very busy times but a good way to improve my English speaking skills.
I was then offered the opportunity to Join Boast International as a Trainee European Operations Assistant and I’m very proud to have had the word ‘Trainee’ recently removed from my Job Title in recognition of how I’ve developed within the role 😊
What has made you stay within the freight forwarding industry?
This is an industry where you always have the opportunity to learn something new! As people say ‘’you are not sitting in one place”. You also get to talk to a lot of people from all areas of the world which I find very interesting.
What skills have you transferred over to your new industry that you have found particularly useful?
I’ve always enjoyed helping others so working for a busy Freight forwarding company like Boast has allowed me to help others while learning and developing new skills.
What do you enjoy most about your new role?
I like that every day is different, this gives me the opportunity to learn so many different areas of Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance.
What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?
I Joined Felixstowe Tennis Club this year and I find this sport fun to play and I also get to meet a lot of interesting people in the club. In this sport, you need to be relaxed when you play and calm under pressure which I’m slowly learning! . I have another hobby which is puzzles and this also teaches me to be calm and have a lot of patience.
